Star Alliance Opens First Branded Lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Airport
Star Alliance has launched its first branded lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), China. This lounge, situated in Terminal 1‘s international area, is accessible to First and Business Class passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold members.
A Space for Comfort in Star Alliance Lounge
The lounge covers 750 square meters and can accommodate 100 guests. It features an open design with large glass windows, providing views of the tarmac and allowing plenty of natural light. Guests can enjoy workstations, comfortable seating, and a private VIP room for meetings. Shower suites are also available for travelers to refresh before their flights. Conveniently located near departure gates, the lounge operates 24/7, catering to various flight schedules.
Celebrating Local Culture
The lounge incorporates elements of Guangzhou’s culture, showcasing art from local artists. It includes a Tea Appreciation Corner, highlighting regional tea traditions. Dining options feature light snacks and local dishes, with a bar offering a selection of drinks throughout the day. Ambar Franco, Vice President for Customer Experience at Star Alliance, said, “Our first branded lounge in Asia represents an exciting milestone, it’s designed to blend comfort and functionality for modern travelers.”
Guangzhou’s Growing Role in Aviation
Guangzhou is an important hub in Asia, serving 10 Star Alliance member airlines, such as Singapore Airlines and Air China. These airlines provide 774 weekly flights to 50 destinations across 10 countries. The lounge is managed by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Business Travel Service Co., Ltd. Future plans include opening another Star Alliance lounge in Terminal 3, enhancing the alliance’s presence in Asia.
Qi Yaoming, Deputy General Manager of the airport, emphasized the lounge’s significance, stating, “The new lounge underscores Guangzhou Baiyun Airport’s importance as an international hub. We remain committed to providing world-class service for Star Alliance and its member airlines.”
