The season 33 premiere of Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday ranked first in viewership, with 4.97 million viewers tuning in, according to Nielsen Live+Same-Day data. This represents a 4% increase from the Season 32 premiere last fall, which drew 4.78 million viewers.
In the 18-49 demo, the Season 33 premiere grew 14% year-over-year to a 0.73 rating, which was 19% higher than the Season 32 average in that demo, according to Nielsen data. This makes it the best Dancing with the Stars telecast in the 18-49 demo since Taylor Swift’s Night last November.
The season premiere featured a unique opening number, where contestants introduced themselves by performing a dance to a song that represented them. This season’s cast includes Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, Bachelor Nation’s Joey Graziadei, and Jenn Tran, as well as NBA champion Dwight Howard, Anna Delvey, and Olympic gymnast Steven Nedorosik.
