State Approves $4.6M for Biofuel Infrastructure

Iowa Funds Biofuel Infrastructure Projects with $4.59 Million Investment

The Iowa Renewable fuels Infrastructure Program board approved 108 projects to expand biofuel access across 46 counties, allocating nearly $4.59 million in funding during its December 17th meeting. This investment includes $3.99 million dedicated to 93 ethanol-related projects adn $600,000 for 15 biodiesel initiatives.
The projects aim to increase availability of lower-cost, cleaner-burning fuels like E15 and biodiesel by upgrading fuel retailer infrastructure. According to a statement from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and land Stewardship, the funding will help stations prepare for Iowa’s E15 Access Standard and better serve customers in the future.
“By helping fuel retailers upgrade and modernize their infrastructure, we are expanding access to E15 and biodiesel, supporting local jobs, and benefiting Iowa communities,” said Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig in a press release issued by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
