Mexico Offers Big Tax Break For Car Owners!
‘hey Luis, have you heard about Mexico State’s new vehicle tax break program? They’re offering 100% relief!’ exclaimed Maria, bustling with excitement.
Luis, sipping his coffee, looked intrigued. “Really? That sounds incredible. what’s the catch?”
Maria chuckled. “There are some conditions, but it’s a pretty sweet deal overall! It’s called the ’Vehicle ownership Subsidy Programme 2025′ and it runs until March 31st next year. Basically, if your car is worth up to 550,000 pesos, or your motorcycle is up to 115,000 pesos, you get to skip paying the entire vehicle ownership tax for 2025!”
“Wow, that’s amazing! So, are there any other requirements?” Luis asked, suddenly interested.
“You need to be a resident of Mexico state, have valid license plates, and be up-to-date on your 2024 vehicle taxes,” Maria explained. “And there’s a small fee of 917 pesos for cars and 677 pesos for motorcycles to renew for 2025.”
Luis whistled. “That’s fantastic! Think about all the families this will help. But wait, is there anything for peopel with older cars? Maybe those who haven’t paid taxes in a while?”
Maria nodded. “That’s the best part! They’re offering full forgiveness on any outstanding vehicle ownership taxes from 2023 and before, if you got your plates before 2020 and complete the plate replacement process. Plus, if you’ve been paying your Used Vehicle Acquisition Tax (ISAVAU) on time, that’s wholly cleared too! And even if you have some outstanding payments on it, they’ll give you a 50% discount.”
Luis stared open-mouthed. “This sounds too good to be true! Where can people learn more?”
“They set up a website just for this: tenencia.edomex.gob.mx.There, you can generate your payment form and make the renewal payment online. You can also pay in person at thousands of locations all over the state. Just remember, the Secretariat of Finance encourages everyone to handle these transactions directly.Avoid any middlemen, and watch out for scams!” Maria cautioned.
“Thanks for the heads up!” Luis said, already reaching for his phone. “This is definitely worth looking into! “
