Queensland survived a furious New South Wales comeback to secure a 26-24 victory in Perth,setting up a decisive Game 3 in the State of Origin series. The Maroons dominated the first half, building a commanding led, but the Blues rallied in the second half, nearly stealing the win.
The Maroons surged ahead with four tries in the first half, taking a 26-6 advantage into the break. New South Wales, though, mounted a spirited comeback led by Brian To’o, who scored a hat trick to bring his team back into contention.
Angus Crichton‘s try in the 72nd minute narrowed the gap to just two points, but the Blues were unable to capitalize on late opportunities. Goal-kicking woes plagued New South Wales, as zac Lomax missed three of his five conversion attempts. Valentine Holmes, in contrast, was perfect for Queensland, converting all four of his attempts.
