Statement by the President regarding the announcement of disciplinary measures by the Japan American Football Association | Kwansei Gakuin University
We take very seriously the fact that five students who are members of our university’s American Football Club and who were selected to represent Japan in the U20 national team were disciplined by the Japan American Football Association on August 30th, and that a recommendation was also issued to the club. We feel a deep sense of responsibility for allowing this situation to occur, and we offer our deepest apologies.
Immediately after the Japanese national team returned from their Canadian tour, our university conducted an internal investigation led by the department head, coach and director, and has been in contact with the association as we respond to the situation.
Having concluded that there was an act amounting to a disciplinary violation as a Japanese national team player, we intend to thoroughly investigate this incident and take steps to prevent a recurrence.
In order to avoid raising any doubts among people inside and outside the university, we will strive to supervise and support student activities as part of university education, abide by discipline, and aim to create a highly skilled team.
