Safety DeShon Elliott will continue to play a key‌ role for the pittsburgh Steelers ⁣after agreeing to a two-year, $12.5 ‍million contract extension. The deal includes $9.21 million in ⁣guaranteed money.

Elliott, 28, confirmed the extension Tuesday on social media, expressing gratitude to the Rooney family, General Manager Omar Khan, and Coach Mike Tomlin. ‌He cited them for providing him a home in Pittsburgh. He⁤ also thanked fans for their support.

The Steelers have not yet formally announced the extension.

Last season,⁤ Elliott recorded career highs with 108 tackles and‍ three fumble recoveries across 15 games, starting in 14. He was in the first ​year of a two-year, $6 million contract.

A sixth-round pick by ⁤the Baltimore Ravens in the 2018 NFL draft,Elliott⁢ has played 72 career games,starting 64. He has 395 tackles, five fumble recoveries, and‌ four interceptions. ⁢His previous teams include⁤ the Ravens (2019-21), Detroit Lions (2022), and Miami Dolphins (2023).
