Court Culture and Music in the Age of Louis XIV – Lecture Concert

The Faculty of Letters is co-sponsoring a lecture concert on Saturday, October 5th, and invites everyone to participate for free.

“Court Culture and Music in the Age of Louis XIV -Air de cour, Cantata, Opera-” is a collaborative open lecture co-hosted by the Faculty of Letters and the Graduate School of Letters, Liberty Academy, and the Institute for Humanities.

Lecture

“Music and Mannerisms of the Court” by Masami Hara (Music Director, Japan Handel Society)

Moderator and Introduction: Kaori Oku (Meiji University, School of Letters)

Concert Program

The concert will feature three parts:

  • Part 1: Airs de cour
  • Part 2: French Cantata
  • Part 3: From the opera “Armide” by Lully
