Steve Perry Releases “The Season 3”
Steve Perry, the former lead singer of JOURNEY, released his new holiday album “The Season 3” on November 8 via Dark Horse Records. This album follows his 2021 holiday album “The Season” and includes six new tracks. The songs include classics like “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Let It Snow.” A highlight of the album is a duet titled “Call Me Irresponsible,” featuring Perry and his late father, Ray Perry.
The song “Call Me Irresponsible” is significant. It reflects on Ray Perry’s life and offers Perry a chance for closure as he addresses family issues. Perry discovered a karaoke cassette of his father’s singing from 1993. He described this experience as emotional and nostalgic, recalling bedtime songs from his childhood. Perry used technology to extract his father’s voice from the cassette to create the duet.
This album is Perry’s first on Dark Horse Records, a label founded by George Harrison in 1974. Perry expressed his excitement about joining this legendary label, stating it’s a dream to share his music with a supportive team.
In “The Season 3,” Perry emphasizes the magic of holiday music, inspired by memories of his grandmother’s kitchen during Christmas. The album includes a total of 16 tracks, combining old favorites with new recordings.
