Stewart Dance Team Dominates Competition Season with Wins & Scholarships

Fusion Dance Team Starts 2026 Season with Impressive Wins in Lansing

SYRACUSE – The Stewart Dance School Fusion Dance Team launched its 2026 competition season with a series of impressive victories at Dance Makers in Lansing, Michigan, from January 30th through February 1st. The team secured numerous first-place finishes, high scores, judges’ awards, and even national scholarships, according to a news release from the school.

Dancers of all ages showcased energy, precision, and artistry, dominating across multiple styles and age groups throughout the weekend competition.

The Senior Contemporary routine, “From Now On,” led the team’s success, earning a first-place score of 96.27 out of 100 and being named the Senior Line Director’s Pick. The Junior Contemporary dance, “Happy Together,” also achieved first place and received the Junior High Score. The Teen Hip Hop number, “Rich Girl,” secured a high second-place finish alongside a Director’s Pick award.

Additional standout performances included “Fabulous,” which earned first place, a Style High Score, and a Director’s Pick; “Wake Me Up,” which won first place and a Judges Pick; and “Be Our Guest,” which took first place and a Style High Score.

The team’s winning streak continued with first-place awards for routines including “Grows Old,” “Bye Bye Bye,” “Zero to Hero,” “Long Cool Woman,” “Golden Years,” and “Yellow,” with “Yellow” also receiving a Director’s Pick. “Step Up Mix” also earned a first-place recognition.

Several other dances received high second-place awards, including “Indigo,” “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better,” “California Dreamin’,” “Good Vibrations,” “Ends of the Earth,” “I Am Not Who I Was,” “Way Down Hadestown,” and “Find Your People.” “Find Your People” also received a Judges Pick.

Two dancers, Elora Chaney and Elle Wood, were awarded scholarships to compete at the national level, recognizing their talent and performance skills.

The Fusion Dance Team will continue its 2026 season with appearances at the Platinum National Dance Competition and the Nexstar National Dance Competition. The team will conclude its competitive season at the In10sity Dance Competition in Fort Wayne in May.

Local audiences will also have the opportunity to see the team perform at the Stewart Dance School’s annual productions at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center in June, with shows scheduled for June 6th, 12th, and 13th.

“Starting the season with this level of success shows just how much dedication, hard work, and passion the Fusion dancers and their instructors bring to the studio,” a representative from Stewart Dance School stated. “With so many wins, awards, and scholarships already in hand, 2026 is shaping up to be a thrilling year for the Fusion Dance Team – and this is just the beginning.”
