A completely stock, series-production electric vehicle reached a top speed of 323 kilometers per hour at the airport in Hradec Králové, setting a new Czech speed record for an unmodified passenger car, tn.nova.cz reported. Driver Tomáš Vavřinec piloted the five-seater family car, which costs approximately three million crowns and is built on a production line in Asia, after a 20-year-old record of 309 kilometers per hour stood as the previous benchmark.
Standard Vehicle Generates 1,538 Horsepower
The record-setting vehicle features no aftermarket modifications and is entirely standard, according to Petr Slováček, editor-in-chief of the magazine Svět motorů. The car generates 1,538 horsepower and accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in under two seconds, reaching 200 kilometers per hour in six seconds. Není nijak upravené, je absolutně sériové,
confirmed Slováček.
Crews Clear Runway for High Speed Run
Securing a suitable track required closing the main landing strip while keeping the grass runway operational, stated Pavel Rind, director of Letecké služby Hradce Králové. Crews cleared a 2.5-kilometer stretch of the runway for the high-speed run. Vavřinec noted that the car requires a substantial stopping distance at such speeds. My potřebujeme s rezervou 700 metrů na brzdy. Za jednu vteřinu ujedete 100 metrů,
explained Vavřinec. The runway’s uneven elevation profile, which rises two meters in the middle compared to the edges, forced the driver to rely on designated markers to initiate braking. Following the record run, the driver drove the car away from the airfield, traveling the same way it arrived after a 100-kilometer highway trip from Prague.
