The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting local authorities after a badly burned body was found in Stone mountain Park on Saturday. The Stone Mountain Department of Public Safety is investigating the death.

According to John Bankhead,spokesperson for Stone Mountain Department of Public Safety,a hiker discovered the body around 8:18 a.m. Saturday. The body was located on the side of the mountain,opposite⁣ the walking trail,more than 100⁣ yards from the Summit skyride tower. Bankhead⁣ noted the area is not heavily trafficked.

An autopsy is scheduled by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office ⁢to determine ⁢the cause of ⁤death. Authorities are focusing on identifying the man and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Personal belongings, including a vehicle, may provide clues to the man’s identity.

The DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department arson investigators are also examining the fire associated with the body.
