Storm Alert: 9 Provinces on High Alert as Meteorological Department Warns of Torrential Rains

The Meteorological Department has issued an announcement regarding heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand,⁤ strong winds, and ​flash floods. The warning is effective from September 16 to 17, 2024.

Heavy Rain ⁢Forecast

Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some areas of Thailand, with very heavy rain forecast in the northeastern, central, eastern, and southwestern regions.

Affected‌ Provinces

The following⁣ provinces are expected to‌ experience heavy to very heavy⁣ rain:

September 16, 2024

  • North: Phayao, ⁣Nan, Phrae,‍ Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and‌ Phetchabun provinces.
  • Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua ‌Lamphu, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi ⁣Et, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket,‌ and ⁤Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
  • Central Region: Nakhon‌ Sawan, Chainat, Singburi, Ang‍ Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon ‌Pathom, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya provinces, including Bangkok and‍ surrounding areas.
  • Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, ‌Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
  • South: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla,​ Yala, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces.

September 17, 2024

  • North: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng ⁣Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces.
  • Northeast:‌ Loei, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
  • Central Region:‌ Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, ‌Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram provinces, including Bangkok and surrounding areas.
  • Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, ⁢and Trat provinces.
  • South: Chumphon, Surat ​Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces.

Wind and Wave Warning

Strong winds and high waves are expected in⁤ the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand. Waves of 2-3 meters high are‍ forecast, with waves exceeding 3 meters high in areas with thunderstorms.

Boaters​ are advised to exercise caution and‍ avoid sailing in areas prone to‌ thunderstorms. Small ⁢boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf ​of Thailand should refrain from leaving ⁤the coast until September 20, 2024.
