Storm No. 3: Overseas Vietnamese Unite in Compassion, Donate Over 19 Billion VND to Support Affected Compatriots

Overseas Vietnamese Community Donates ​Over VND19 Billion to Support Storm Victims

On September 20, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee ‍for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang presented over VND19 billion to the Central Committee of the Vietnam⁣ Fatherland Front to support people affected by storm No. 3.

Responding to the call of the Presidium of ​the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for donations ⁤to support compatriots to overcome the ‌damage caused by storm No. 3, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has developed a plan and actively ​coordinated with​ representative agencies to mobilize ‌and support the receipt of donations and support from the overseas Vietnamese community.

As of September 20, 2024, the amount of donations has reached more ‌than VND31 billion. Of which, the amount​ transferred back to the country is more than VND21 billion, including the amount that Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang donated on behalf of the overseas Vietnamese community on September 20,​ which is VND19.3 billion. ‍This is the support money from the Vietnamese community in various locations, including Australia, Thailand, Japan, Laos, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Angola, Cambodia,‌ China, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Taiwan (China),​ Mongolia, the United States, the Czech​ Republic, Nigeria, and Finland.

Notably, the Vietnamese community in Thailand donated nearly VND4.7 billion, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic donated VND3.3 billion, and the Vietnamese ​community in​ the United States donated USD105,000 (equivalent to about VND2.6 ‍billion).

Deputy Minister of‍ Foreign ‍Affairs and Chairwoman of the‌ State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang presented nearly VND19.3 ⁣billion to support people affected by storm No. 3.

On this occasion, on behalf of the officials, civil servants, and public employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang presented VND2 ⁤billion‍ to support people affected by storms and floods.

Previously, on September 13, 2024, the State Committee for Overseas⁣ Vietnamese supported overseas Vietnamese to transfer VND602 million to ⁤the Central ⁤Committee of the Vietnam ‍Fatherland‌ Front. In addition, organizations and individuals from Germany, the Netherlands,⁢ the Vietnamese community in Khabarovsk (Russia), the International Exchange Organization in⁣ Japan…⁣ also directly presented to the Central Committee of the Vietnam ​Fatherland Front with a‍ total amount ⁣of more ‍than VND1 billion.

Speaking at the ⁤reception ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of​ the Vietnam Fatherland​ Front Do Van Chien thanked the overseas Vietnamese for sharing the difficulties of their compatriots‌ affected by natural disasters. Mr. Do Van Chien⁤ said that the Party and State have mobilized tens of thousands of people to support the people; the Government has⁣ also allocated funds for localities to overcome the consequences. To date, the Front has received nearly VND1,500 ‍billion⁢ and distributed nearly VND1,300 billion ⁤in support money⁢ to localities.
