A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officer sustained an injury, and three police vehicles were damaged following an altercation in Strabane, County Tyrone, on Sunday, August 31, 2025.The incident occurred in the Railway Street area around 2:00 AM.
Responding to a Public Disturbance
Officers were initially dispatched to the scene to address a fight involving multiple individuals. While attempting to de-escalate the situation, one officer was punched in the arm. A man was later arrested on suspicion of common assault, assault on police, and disorderly behavior and remains in police custody as of today, August 31, 2025.
Vehicle damage and Operational Impact
Upon returning to their vehicles after the arrest, officers discovered meaningful damage. Two vehicles had damaged wing mirrors, while a third sustained a dent to the boot and had its number plate removed. The damage to one vehicle is ample enough to require it to be taken off the road for repairs, temporarily reducing the PSNI’s available resources for public service.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding both the assault and the vehicle damage.
