Stream Oscar Contenders: Explore R-Rated ‘Memoir of a Snail’ and César-Winning ‘Chicken for Linda!’ on The Animation Showcase
The Animation Showcase (TAS) is a free streaming platform for animation professionals. It currently features two qualified animated films competing for this year’s Oscars.
The first film is Adam Elliot’s R-rated stop-motion feature, Memoir of a Snail. It follows Grace Pudel, a lonely person who collects ornamental snails. After losing her twin brother, she struggles with anxiety. Her life alters when she meets Pinky, an elderly woman with a zest for life. This film won best film at the BFI London Film Festival and is available through the holiday season.
The second film is the French animated feature Chicken for Linda! Directed by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach, this film won the César Award for best animated feature. The story focuses on Paulette, who feels guilty after punishing her daughter Linda. Linda’s wish for a meal of chicken leads Paulette on a chaotic quest to fulfill her promise amid a city-wide strike.
In addition to these films, TAS is screening over a dozen Oscar-contending shorts like Percebes, Self, La Perra, A Crab in the Pool, Yuck!, and Beautiful Men.
