Streamlining Housing Finance: Indonesia’s Path to 3 Million Homes Under Prabowo’s Leadership
Depok, W. Java – State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir stated that simplifying housing financing regulations can help meet the goal of building three million houses annually during President Prabowo Subianto‘s term. Thohir expressed confidence that streamlined regulations will support the efforts of the President and Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait in advancing housing projects.
During a visit to a housing site in Margonda, Depok, Thohir emphasized the need for funding to support Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) in managing homeownership loans. He stated that with adequate financial backing, BTN could successfully construct 800,000 houses.
Thohir also mentioned that the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Housing are collaborating to offer public housing credit with a 30-year repayment period. He highlighted the example of an apartment costing Rp270 million that fits this model.
Thohir and Sirait reviewed housing projects focused on the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept at locations near train stations in Depok and Jakarta. These projects, developed by Perumnas, utilize assets from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) for vertical housing solutions.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister of SOEs, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, revealed plans to build housing in Manggarai, Gubeng, and Kiara Condong, all on KAI-owned land. He noted that the Manggarai site will be larger, covering 60 hectares, while Gubeng will cover 12 hectares. However, construction in Manggarai will take longer due to the need for community discussions.
In summary, the government aims to streamline housing financing and leverage state resources to meet housing demands effectively.
