Strictly Come Dancing Bids Farewell to Ninth Couple: Highlights and Reactions
Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas Eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing
Jamie Borthwick, known for his role in EastEnders, and his partner Michelle Tsiakkas have been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing. They became the ninth couple to leave the competition after facing a dance-off.
During Sunday’s results show, Borthwick and Tsiakkas danced their Foxtrot to Ben E King’s “Stand by Me.” They scored 32 points from the judges during the previous night’s live show. Judge Anton Du Beke praised Borthwick as a “beautiful dancer” but suggested he be more expressive.
Their opponents, Montell Douglas and her partner Johannes Radebe, performed a Quickstep to Ella Fitzgerald’s “Get Happy.” They received a score of 37 for their earlier performance. Although judge Craig Revel Horwood found their routine had a stiff start, he praised the overall dynamics.
After both couples danced again, the judges unanimously chose to save Douglas and Radebe, leading to Borthwick and Tsiakkas’s exit.
Reflecting on his time on the show, Borthwick called Strictly Come Dancing “magic.” He expressed gratitude for the connections made with the crew and praised Tsiakkas as an “amazing teacher.” He stated, “I’ve had the best time.”
Tsiakkas echoed his sentiments, highlighting Borthwick’s improvement and the importance of bonds formed through the competition.
The results show featured a performance by the Sugababes, who sang hits like “Freak Like Me” and “Push the Button.” The remaining couples will perform in the quarter-final on November 30, followed by the results show on December 1.
