Bourne, Lincolnshire – Hayley Sanderson, a member of the “Strictly Come Dancing” house band, has called Chris McCausland‘s journey to victory “magical.” McCausland, the show’s first blind contestant, captivated audiences and judges alike, ultimately winning the coveted glitterball trophy in Saturday’s thrilling finale.
Sanderson, who hails from Bourne, Lincolnshire, witnessed firsthand McCausland’s remarkable performances. “I think when ther’s certain bits of magic going on, like what Chris is doing, or what Rose [Ayling-Ellis] did, and Dianne [Buswell]; what she does with him, it’s crazy. It’s brilliant,” she exclaimed.
McCausland beat out a strong field of finalists, including singer JB Gill, actress Sarah Hadland, and former “Love Island” star Tasha Ghouri.His win has been hailed as a groundbreaking moment, with disability charity Sense expressing hope that it will “break down barriers” for others.
While Sanderson was enthralled by McCausland’s performances, her focus during the live shows remained firmly on musical director and conductor David Arch. “I have to just watch Dave and just concentrate like crazy,” she explained. “He’s brilliant. He’s a genius. I’ve never worked with anyone like him, he’s out of this world. so your eyes are locked to him, as he knows exactly what’s going on at all points.”
