Empowering Music Education through Piano Donations
The ROHM Music Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation supported by ROHM Co., Ltd., has launched a piano donation program to support educational institutions that train performers. This initiative aims to create an environment where students can enjoy and learn music, leading to the spread and development of music culture.
Program Background
The program began in 2022 with the goal of replacing old pianos with high-quality ones at educational institutions nationwide. In 2024, the foundation has selected 10 universities to receive pianos of their choice, following a public solicitation and deliberation process.
Recipient Universities
The following universities have been selected to receive piano donations:
- Osaka University of Arts
- Kobe College
- Seitoku University
- Senzoku Gakuen College of Music
- Love University
- Toho Gakuen School of Music
- Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts
- Nagoya College of Music
- Nagoya University of Arts
- Nihon University
Program Details
The program will donate a total of 59 pianos, with a total value of 490 million yen. The donation target includes all universities with a music department or an equivalent framework for training performers. The total price of the piano itself (list price, consumption tax, etc. included) per school will be capped at 50 million yen.
