KIA’s Yang Hyeon-jong Receives EV3 as Gift for Record-Breaking Strikeouts
KIA Tigers’ Yang Hyeon-jong, who set a new KBO individual career strikeout record, received a vehicle as a gift from the team. KIA announced, “To commemorate Yang Hyeon-jong’s achievement of the KBO League’s most strikeouts record, we gifted him ‘The Kia EV3’.”
Yang Hyeon-jong set a new record for strikeouts with 2,049 in a game against the Lotte Giants held at the Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on August 21, surpassing the previous record holder, Song Jin-woo.
The EV3 vehicle delivery ceremony was held along with the record-breaking strikeout award ceremony held before the Gwangju Kiwoom game on the 14th, and CEO Choi Jun-young attended and delivered the EV3 to Yang Hyeon-jong.
A KIA official said, “We prepared this ceremony to celebrate the record-breaking achievement of the living legend, Yang Hyeon-jong. He is a role model for his teammates and fans alike, both on and off the field, with his consistent performance and top-notch fan service, so we prepared a gift that fits him.”
Yang Hyeon-jong said, “I would like to thank the team for giving me the EV3 as a gift. I will not rest on my laurels and will always strive to become a better player than I am now.” He added, ”I will do my best to repay the great gift by winning the Korean Series.”
KIA Holds Award Ceremony for Kim Do-young’s Achievements

KIA also held an award ceremony for infielder Kim Do-young’s cycle hit and 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases achievement on the same day. The KIA Tigers team presented a congratulatory gift, a plaque, and a congratulatory bouquet, and KBO game operation committee member Han Yong-deok presented a commemorative plaque and a congratulatory bouquet on behalf of Commissioner Heo Gu-yeon.
Kim Do-young achieved the 31st and first natural cycle hit in KBO history in the game against NC in Gwangju on July 23, and the 9th and youngest player in KBO history to hit 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in the game against Kiwoom at Gocheok on August 15.
