Student Privacy Under Fire: TVSA Defends Record Keeping Rulebook Amidst Controversy
Student Protection and Record Keeping: A Balanced Approach
The recent introduction of a rule book on recording unacceptable behavior and other factors that could endanger students’ best interests has sparked a series of reactions from the public, with many expressing negative concerns. In response, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Education organized a panel discussion involving stakeholders, experts, and those directly involved in working with students to address these concerns.
Addressing Privacy Concerns
Representatives from the ministry and those working directly with students have rejected criticism that the new rule book breaches student privacy. They emphasize that records are destroyed at the end of each school year and are not transferred to secondary schools or retained if a student changes schools, ensuring that sensitive information is not retained unnecessarily.
