A History of Service

The Demolition Process: A Delicate Operation
The demolition isn’t a simple implosion. Rather, crews from Demolition Plus are employing a meticulous “soft demolition” technique. This involves carefully removing materials – from steel beams to concrete – to salvage as much as possible for recycling. The process prioritizes safety and minimizes disruption to the surrounding neighborhood.
According to project manager Bob Tremblay, the soft demolition approach is more time-consuming but essential given the building’s age and location. Asbestos abatement was completed prior to the start of demolition to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
What’s next for the Site?
The future of the land remains under discussion. The city of Greater Sudbury owns the property and is exploring options for redevelopment. Potential uses include residential housing, commercial spaces, or a combination of both. Community input will be a key factor in determining the final plan.
We are committed to ensuring that the redevelopment of the St.Joseph’s site benefits the entire community and aligns wiht the city’s long-term vision.
