JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian National Armed forces (TNI) hopes the controversy will not drag on after they made efforts to meet with Suderajat (49), an ice gabus (customary indonesian iced dessert) vendor from Depok who was accused of selling ice made from sponges in the Utan Panjang area, Central Jakarta.
“It is indeed hoped that no prolonged lawsuits or conflicts will arise following the meeting,” said Head of the Army Public Data Service Brigadier General Donny Pramono, in a statement on Tuesday (27/1/2026).
Donny stated that the ice sold by Suderajat is genuine, made from food-grade materials, and safe for consumption.
“Based on verification at the scene, the incident was a misunderstanding between security personnel, in this case Babinsa (Village Supervisory Non-Commissioned Officer) and Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Security and Public Order Officer), and the local resident,” Donny emphasized.
therefore, TNI is making efforts to meet with Suderajat to resolve the issue amicably and through dialog.
