Suede Unveils ‘Trance State’ From New Album ‘Antidepressants’
Suede has offered fans another taste of their upcoming album, ‘Antidepressants,’ with the release of their new single, ‘trance State.’ The album, the band’s 10th studio effort and a follow-up to 2022’s ‘Autofiction,’ is slated for release on Sept. 5 via BMG.
‘Trance State’ features chiming guitars and frontman Brett Anderson’s signature emotionally charged storytelling. the band previously released the goth-inspired single ‘Disintegrate’ from the same album.

Anderson also characterized the album’s overall feel. “If ‘Autofiction’ was our punk record, ‘antidepressants’ is our post-punk record,” he stated. “It’s about the tensions of modern life, the paranoia, the anxiety, the neurosis… This is broken music for broken people.”
‘Antidepressants’ was recorded live with Ed buller, who previously worked with Suede on their debut single, ‘The Drowners,’ in 1992.
“It is genuinely exciting being in this band. It feels like we’re still pushing creatively.”
Bassist Mat Osman added his perspective on the new record. “This is a widescreen and ambitious record. It’s a big stage record and it’s taking it up a gear,” Osman said.
In September, Suede will perform four exclusive shows at London’s Southbank Centre, their first performances at the venue as David Bowie’s meltdown Festival in 2002.
“Expect old songs, new songs, borrowed songs, blue songs, drama, melody, noise, sweat and a couple of surprises.”
