Sunrise Nets National League Hockey Rights 2035
Sunrise, a leading Swiss telecoms company, has secured an eight-year extension of its exclusive broadcasting rights for all games from the Swiss National League, the country’s top-tier ice hockey competition, through the 2034-35 season.
This renewal encompasses both pay-TV and free-to-air (FTA) rights, solidifying the National League’s position as a cornerstone of Sunrise’s MySports streaming platform. The FTA component will continue through partnerships with CH Media (german-speaking Switzerland), Léman Bleu and La Télé (French-speaking Switzerland), and TeleTicino (Ticino), offering selected regular-season games, one playoff match per round, and highlights. Negotiations for future highlight broadcast partners are currently underway.
The accomplished bid, launched in June of the previous year, was attributed to Sunrise’s demonstrated commitment to Swiss ice hockey, its proven production capabilities, and its extensive distribution network. This strategic advantage prevailed over competing offers.
Denis Vaucher, CEO of the National League, emphasized the value of the partnership: “With MySports, Sunrise has understood how to create new formats and open up new distribution channels, and it therefore lives up to ice hockey’s high status among the Swiss population. With MySports, Sunrise is our dream partner – today and in the future.”
MySports aims to establish itself as the premier destination for ice hockey fans in Switzerland, offering a comprehensive content package including live games, highlights, documentaries, and in-depth analysis. Beyond the National League,MySports’ portfolio includes rights to the NHL (North America),the German Ice Hockey League, the Swedish Hockey League, the Champions Hockey League, and Swiss national team games.
launched in 2017, mysports is Switzerland’s only fee-based sports channel, widely available across major TV platforms (Sunrise TV, Swisscom TV, Salt TV, Quickline TV, Netplus) and streaming services (Zattoo, Teleboy, Sky). André Krause, CEO of sunrise, stated: “MySports is hockey. And the decision made by the National League is a splendid vote of confidence for us and great motivation to continue doing everything we can for the sport.”
