Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan (KKDJ) has announced a collaboration with the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, featuring a limited-edition lineup of four themed donuts. The promotion coincides with the release of the film, which is produced by Illumination and Nintendo and is scheduled to premiere on April 24, 2026.

The collaboration donuts will be available at all KKD locations nationwide in Japan starting April 8, 2026. The sale period is scheduled to run through May 26, 2026, or while supplies last.

This partnership marks the 20th anniversary of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Japan. To further the campaign, the Shibuya Cine Tower store will be transformed into an immersive movie-themed space for the duration of the promotional period.

The new lineup consists of three donuts based on popular characters and one inspired by a franchise icon. Each offering features specific design elements intended to evoke the adventure world of the film.

Production and Industry Context

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie serves as the follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie released in 2023. The previous installment in the series achieved significant commercial success, earning more than $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.

The collaboration follows a trend of cross-promotional movie marketing in Japan, integrating food and beverage offerings with theatrical releases to drive engagement before and during the film’s opening window.
