SuperSport has announced that all 104 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be broadcast live on DStv Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium packages across Africa, making it the most accessible World Cup ever for MultiChoice Group customers.
The announcement confirms that even DStv’s cheapest subscription tier will include full coverage of the expanded 48-team tournament, which begins in Mexico City on 11 June 2026 and concludes with the final in New Jersey on 19 July 2026.
This marks the first time the FIFA World Cup will be available in its entirety to subscribers across all DStv packages, from Access to Premium, including live matches, highlights, and repeats. The broadcast will be available in both English and Portuguese-speaking African countries.
The expansion to 48 nations makes the 2026 edition the longest-running FIFA World Cup in history, with a record number of matches to be enjoyed by viewers across the continent.
To underscore the significance of the event for African audiences, SuperSport partnered with Hollywood star Idris Elba — whose parents are of Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean descent — to promote the broadcast. Elba confirmed on Wednesday that all 104 matches would be live on DStv and GOtv platforms.
Africa will send its largest-ever contingent to the tournament, with 10 nations qualifying from the Confederation of African Football (CAF): Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In line with this historic participation, SuperSport will launch a new lineup of magazine shows featuring fresh faces and expert masterclasses from football analysts across Africa and the world to accompany the tournament coverage.
