Supporters Rally Behind VP Sara Duterte Amid Controversial Assassination Remarks in Davao City
Supporters Rally for Vice President Sara Duterte in Davao City
On November 23, a prayer rally took place in Davao City, attracting over a thousand supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte. The event aimed to back the vice president amid backlash for her recent controversial remarks about possibly hiring an assassin to protect herself against alleged threats.
Mila, a dedicated supporter of the Duterte family, expressed her belief that Sara’s comments were made to ensure her safety. “It is better that she said those words,” Mila stated at the rally. Despite the political storm, she reiterated her support for Duterte, noting her leadership and the accomplishments of the Duterte administration in tackling crime and illegal drugs.
Another rally attendee, Joven Sambade, viewed Duterte’s assassination threat as an expression of anger that was misunderstood by the public. He argued that such comments come from a place of personal safety and disapproval of political motivations behind threats against the vice president.
Sambade criticized the president, Ferdinand Marcos, for not fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly regarding rice prices. He felt Duterte faced unfair accusations during congressional hearings and insisted that her statements did not equate to a genuine desire to harm others.
Paul Beltran, a 63-year-old resident, shared his take on Duterte’s remarks, attributing them to frustration and anger towards the Marcos administration. He called for Marcos to resign, stating that Davao City residents had not seen any significant benefits during his tenure.
The rally served as a platform for supporters to voice their loyalty to Vice President Sara Duterte amidst rising tensions and controversies.
