Suprema Secures Major Win: Ethiopian Government Taps into Cutting-Edge Security Solutions
Suprema Wins Security Project with Ethiopian Government
South Korea’s Suprema Inc., an artificial intelligence (AI)-based security company, has won a contract to supply its fingerprint recognition access control system to Addis Ababa City’s Innovation and Technology Development Bureau (ITDB) in Ethiopia.
The solution will be integrated with the government’s existing employee management system, enabling faster and more accurate access authentication.
According to a Suprema source, “Based on the success of this operation, we are discussing plans to expand the project to 11 other regions beyond Addis Ababa.”
Expansion in Africa
Earlier this year, Suprema also exported a biometric-based access control solution to the Central Bank of Ghana.
The company provides corporate workforce management solutions using various authentication methods, including fingerprints, facial recognition, and mobile cards.
Suprema has been expanding in Africa, with clients such as South African retailer Pick n Pay and partners in 49 African countries.
Future of Fingerprint Recognition Technology
In many regions of Africa, fingerprint identification technology is still in the early stages of adoption for access control. However, it is widely used in public services such as election management and ID issuance.
As the user experience expands and digital infrastructure develops, we expect fingerprint recognition technology to be more widely adopted across industries, including finance, education, and healthcare.
