New Delhi: The Supreme Court’s five-judge collegium, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, issued⁢ a strong ‍rebuke to Allahabad high Court Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav on Tuesday for his controversial speech at a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) event.

The collegium, which also includes Justices B R Gavai, Surya Kant, Hrishikesh Roy, and A S Oka, ⁤expressed concern ‍over the ⁤judge’s remarks and emphasized the importance of maintaining the‍ dignity of the judicial office.

Justice Yadav appeared⁣ before the collegium ⁤to explain his December 8th speech, which had sparked outrage among ⁣activist lawyers and politicians. He argued that media reports had selectively quoted from his speech, creating ‍unnecessary controversy.

However, the collegium remained unconvinced, stating that the ⁤casual manner in which certain statements were made in the speech was inappropriate for a judge holding a constitutional position.

“Conduct, demeanour, and speech of a High Court‍ or Supreme Court judge, ‍being a ⁢constitutional post holder, is constantly under scrutiny,” the collegium⁣ stated.”So, they are expected to maintain the dignity of the high⁤ office.”

The⁤ senior judges stressed that every⁤ statement ⁣made by a high court or supreme Court judge, both ⁤inside⁢ and outside the courtroom, must uphold the dignity of the office and not erode public faith in the judiciary.

Justice Yadav, appointed as an ‍additional judge in December 2019 and made permanent in March‍ 2021, is scheduled to retire ⁢in April 2026.His speech at the VHP event⁢ reportedly expressed support for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and allegedly made remarks⁢ targeting ⁤the Muslim ⁢community.

While the Supreme ‍Court has consistently advocated for the implementation of UCC, Justice Yadav’s comments against ⁢the Muslim community drew sharp criticism.Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan’s NGO, ‘Committee⁤ for Judicial ⁢Accountability and Reforms,’ demanded an⁢ in-house inquiry against the judge.⁢ Additionally, 55 MPs from ‍opposition ⁣parties have served a notice in the⁢ Rajya Sabha, seeking to⁤ initiate a removal motion against Justice Yadav.

Tiny Home trend Takes Root in Unexpected Places: Suburban Backyards

Suburban homeowners⁣ are embracing⁢ the tiny house‍ movement, but not in the ⁢way you might ⁣think.

Forget remote homesteads and off-grid living. The latest twist on the tiny house trend sees ⁤these compact ⁢dwellings popping up in suburban backyards, offering homeowners a unique blend of extra ⁢space and lifestyle flexibility.

“It’s a way to add value⁢ to your property without the hassle and expense of‍ a traditional addition,” says Sarah Miller, a homeowner in suburban Chicago who recently installed a 300-square-foot tiny house in her backyard. “We⁤ use it⁤ as a guest house, a home⁤ office, and even a weekend getaway spot.”

The‍ appeal of backyard tiny homes is multifaceted.⁤ For families facing space constraints, they provide a much-needed extra bedroom, playroom, or ‍home office. Empty nesters are finding them ideal for aging parents or visiting grandchildren. And for those seeking a creative outlet or a change of pace, they offer a unique chance to downsize and simplify.

“It’s ‍amazing how much you can fit into such a small space,” says miller. ⁣”We’ve designed it to be ⁤incredibly functional and⁣ efficient, with built-in storage and multi-purpose⁤ furniture.”

The trend is gaining momentum across the country,⁣ with specialized ⁢builders and designers catering to the growing demand. Zoning regulations ⁤vary by municipality, but many areas are adapting to accommodate these innovative living spaces.

“we’re seeing a real shift in⁢ attitudes towards alternative housing options,” says John Davis, a builder specializing in backyard tiny homes. “People are looking for‍ more sustainable, affordable, and flexible living solutions, and tiny houses are a perfect fit.”

While the tiny house movement may have originated with a desire for minimalist⁣ living‍ and environmental consciousness, its suburban iteration ⁤reflects a broader trend⁣ towards multi-generational living, flexible ⁢work arrangements, ⁣and a desire for more intentional use of space.

As the trend ⁤continues to evolve, it’s clear that the tiny house movement⁣ is no longer confined to the fringes.‍ It’s finding‍ a ⁢comfortable niche in the heart of suburbia, ‍offering homeowners a fresh perspective on how we live, work, and connect with our families.

America’s Love Affair with Coffee: A Brewing Crisis?

Baristas Brace for Bean shortage as Climate Change Impacts ‍Global Supply

(New York,⁣ NY) ⁢- From coast to coast, Americans rely on their daily dose of ⁣caffeine to⁣ fuel their mornings. But a looming crisis threatens this beloved ritual: a global coffee bean shortage.

Climate change is wreaking havoc on coffee-producing regions around the world, leading to unpredictable weather patterns, droughts, and disease outbreaks that decimate crops. Experts warn that if current trends continue, the world could face‍ a meaningful coffee deficit within the next decade.

“We’re already seeing ‍the⁣ effects,” says Sarah Miller, a barista ‍at a bustling ⁢coffee shop in Manhattan. “Our ⁣suppliers are warning us about ⁢potential price ‍increases and limited availability of certain beans.”

The impact on consumers could be significant. Higher prices for ‍coffee beans will inevitably translate to higher prices for your⁤ morning latte or afternoon cappuccino. Some specialty⁢ coffee shops may even be forced to reduce their offerings or close ⁣their doors altogether.

The ⁣situation is notably dire for small-scale farmers in developing countries who depend⁢ on coffee production for their livelihoods. They are often the most ‍vulnerable to the effects of climate change, lacking the resources to adapt to changing conditions.

“This isn’t just about our morning coffee,” says environmental activist David Chen. “It’s ⁣about the livelihoods of ‍millions of people and the future of sustainable agriculture.”

While the situation is serious, there is hope. Researchers are working ⁣on developing climate-resilient coffee varieties and promoting sustainable farming practices.Consumers can also play a role by supporting fair trade coffee and reducing their overall coffee consumption. The future⁢ of America’s coffee culture hangs⁣ in the⁣ balance. Whether we can overcome this brewing crisis depends on our collective action to address climate ⁣change and support⁣ sustainable coffee production.

judges must exercise extraordinary caution in their public utterances, especially when addressing sensitive issues. Their words carry notable weight and have the⁣ potential to influence public opinion and perception of the judicial system.

“This case highlights the ongoing tension between⁢ judicial independence and the responsibility of ⁣judges to uphold the integrity of the institution. It is indeed a reminder that judges are not merely interpreters of the law; they are also guardians⁣ of public trust.”

A Delicate Balance:
