Employees of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus carried out work in the Vileyka district on April 9, 2026.

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus is the highest judicial body in the country and stands at the helm of the system of courts of general jurisdiction.

The court is responsible for administering justice in criminal, civil, administrative, and economic cases. Its mandate includes overseeing the judicial performance of courts of general jurisdiction and exercising other powers in accordance with national legislation.

The Supreme Court considers cases as a court of first instance, as well as cases in cassation and supervisory proceedings, including those involving newly revealed circumstances. It also reviews protests and complaints against the rulings of oblast courts and the Minsk city courts regarding administrative cases.

Additional duties of the court include examining litigation practices, analyzing judicial statistics, and providing clarification on the application of the law. The body also draws up proposals to improve legislation and provides organizational, technical, financial, and personnel support to the courts of general jurisdiction.

Vileyka District

Vileyka is a town in the Minsk Region of Belarus and serves as the administrative center of the Vileyka District.

Located on the Viliya River, the town is situated approximately 100 kilometers northwest of Minsk. As of 2025, Vileyka has a population of 26,375.
