Indiana ⁤Town Gets $5.5 Million Fiber Boost

Peru, Indiana – High-speed internet is ⁤coming to Peru, Indiana, thanks to a $5.5 million fiber network expansion project by Surf Internet. Teh Great lakes region internet service provider (ISP) broke‍ ground last month, with the first phase of⁢ the project set to go live this month.

Surf ‌Internet aims ​to connect 4,275‌ residential ⁤and commercial properties in Peru by the middle of ⁣2026. The project ‍promises to deliver internet ⁣speeds of up to 2 gigabits-per-second, ⁤with the capacity to scale up to 10 ‍Gigs in the ​future.

“With this investment, Surf is not only‌ supporting‌ today’s high-speed needs but⁤ also​ building a future-ready network that will‍ continue to support ⁢the‍ community as technology and ⁢internet demands evolve,” said ⁣Surf CEO Gene Crusie.

Peru Mayor Don ⁣Sturch echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of fiber internet for the​ town’s future. “Fiber internet access ⁤is ⁤essential for⁣ our community’s ⁣future,” Sturch stated.”Surf’s commitment ‌to expanding connectivity in our town will benefit not⁢ only‍ businesses and families ​today but also‍ foster future growth and⁣ innovation ​in Peru.”

Surf Internet is partnering with Miami-cass REMC and its subsidiary, Broadway ⁣Broadband, to leverage‌ local expertise and existing fiber network resources. Miami-Cass ⁣REMC, a not-for-profit, consumer-member owned ⁢utility, will play a ​key role in the⁤ project’s‌ success.
