Surprising Wild Pig Encounter Shocks Oviedo Residents
Wild Pigs Surprise Oviedo Residents
On Thursday afternoon, residents in an Oviedo neighborhood saw wild pigs for the first time. Coral Nadal was shocked when her dog barked at the fence. “I said what is that, is that a bear? No, it’s a pig,” she explained.
Nadal’s son was excited about the sighting. He exclaimed, “Oh my god a pig a pig!” They spotted a pig and a baby pig near a marshy area behind their yard, which is known for hosting other wildlife like bears and deer. “We saw everything, except boars,” Nadal noted.
Nadal felt a bit scared due to concerns about the pigs being aggressive. “I said okay, let’s go inside,” she recalled. While the pigs did not damage her yard, wild pigs have caused destruction in nearby areas. Last year, a yard east of Sanford suffered damage from pigs.
For residents experiencing ongoing pig problems, hiring private trappers for capture and removal is an option.
