Chainsaw-Wielding Vandal Targets Downtown Los Angeles Trees
LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A wave of vandalism in downtown Los Angeles left several trees felled overnight, sparking outrage among residents. Authorities are investigating the incidents, believed to be the work of a suspect on a bicycle armed with a chainsaw.
The incidents were first brought to light through social media. “Some piece of you already know what decided to go around last night, cutting trees throughout the center of Los Angeles,” stated a video posted on the Instagram account @Dtlainsider.
Half moussavy, who operates the @Dtlainsider account and has resided downtown since 2017, expressed his dismay to KABC, stating, “Any person who does this is an act of destruction.”
Initially,upon hearing about the downed trees,Moussavy said he assumed it was part of a city cleanup effort. However, he soon realized the extent of the damage.
“He began to receive photos from many different people in the influencers space, the space of the city center, saying: ‘Did you see what they did last night?'” Moussavy recounted.
The vandal targeted trees in multiple locations,including Grand Avenue and Wells Fargo Center,Olympic Street and Figueroa Boulevard,Broadway and Cesar Chavez Avenue,and Grand Avenue and Fifth Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incidents and seeking details from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
