SUV Crashes Into Des Moines Home | Living Room Impact

An SUV crashed into a home in Des Moines, Iowa, early Wednesday morning, stopping in the living room and kitchen area, according to Des Moines police. The driver was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine.
Police responded to a call at approximately 2:00 a.m. On Bennett Avenue where they discovered the SUV had driven through the front of the house. No injuries were reported, despite the vehicle coming to rest inside the home’s living and kitchen spaces.
The driver was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, in addition to multiple driving-related offenses. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Crow Tow was able to remove the vehicle from the home. The extent of the structural damage is currently unknown, but authorities indicated the family residing in the home will need to be relocated.
This incident follows a separate event on Tuesday night where an SUV became lodged inside a Des Moines home on Southeast 3rd Street. Police in that case reported the driver stated the vehicle experienced a mechanical issue prior to leaving the roadway and striking the residence. No one was injured in that incident either.
The Red Cross is assisting the family displaced by the crash on Southeast 3rd Street due to structural damage to their home.
