San Fernando Valley Crash Under Investigation
At least five people were hospitalized Sunday night following a collision between a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) ambulance and a black SUV in the Arleta neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Chase Street, according to LAFD spokesperson Jennifer Middleton.
The SUV sustained meaningful damage, as documented by witnesses sharing footage on TikTok. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old male, was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition.
Passengers and LAFD Personnel Injured
The LAFD ambulance was en route to the hospital with a 94-year-old male patient and an 81-year-old woman accompanying him at the time of the crash. Both patients, along with the ambulance driver and another LAFD member, were admitted to the hospital in fair condition with the extent of their injuries currently unknown, Middleton stated.
Recurring Incidents at the Intersection
This incident is not isolated. Earlier in 2025, another LAFD ambulance was struck at the same intersection while carrying patients. Notably, a battalion chief dispatched to investigate that initial collision was afterward involved in a separate crash with another vehicle at the same location approximately one hour later, raising concerns about the safety of the intersection.
the cause of Sunday’s collision is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
