SV Motor Neubrandenburg Badminton: U17/U19 Tournament Successes

SV Motor Neubrandenburg Badminton: U17/U19 Tournament Successes

February 24, 2026 David Thompson - Sports Editor Sports

Schwarzenbek, Germany – A strong showing at the B-ranking tournament for the U17/U19 age groups in Schwarzenbek has highlighted the rising talent within the SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg badminton program. Players demonstrated both skill and resilience over two days of competition, with Lucas Jeschke emerging as a standout performer.

Jeschke, who is technically still eligible for the U15 division, competed in the U17 bracket and quickly made an impact. He navigated his way to the quarter-finals in the singles competition, where he faced a tough challenge from eventual tournament winner Theo Schlosser. Despite a hard-fought match, Jeschke ultimately fell short, finishing in a commendable 5th place.

Matti Richter also represented SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg in the U19 division. He faced a challenging draw in the singles, losing to top-seeded Hannes Möller in a closely contested three-set match in the round of 16. Richter found more success in the mixed doubles, securing a 5th-place finish.

Doubles Success for Neubrandenburg Duo

The most significant surprise of the tournament came in the doubles competition, where Lucas Jeschke partnered with Luis Herhaus of Rostock. The duo defied expectations, defeating the favored pairing of Frederik Volkert and Max Hahn in a thrilling three-set encounter. While they narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth, falling in the quarter-finals, Jeschke and Herhaus still managed to secure a 5th-place finish.

In the U19 doubles, Matti Richter teamed up with Justus Vogelsang from Greifswald. As an unseeded pair, they exceeded expectations by reaching the semi-finals before being defeated by the number one seeded team from Hamburg. They ultimately finished in 4th place.

This tournament performance builds on recent successes for Jeschke, who also competed at the A-ranking event in Waghäusel (Baden-Württemberg) the previous week. Competing in the U15 division there, he achieved 9th place in both the mixed doubles and doubles, and 17th in singles, demonstrating his consistent performance across different age groups and competition levels.

The results from Schwarzenbek and Waghäusel underscore the strength of the SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg badminton program and the potential of its young athletes. Jeschke’s ability to compete successfully against older opponents is particularly noteworthy, signaling a bright future for the club and for the development of badminton in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region.

The success of these young players comes at a time of growing interest in badminton, a sport known for its demanding athleticism and strategic complexity. The achievements of athletes like Jeschke and Richter are likely to inspire further participation and investment in the sport at the regional level.

The Neubrandenburg team’s recent triumphs, including a strong showing at the State Championships in Güstrow in October 2025, as reported by Archyde.com, demonstrate a consistent upward trajectory. Lucas Jeschke, at just thirteen years old, was a key contributor to that success, claiming a triple victory in the U15 age group – gold medals in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles – without dropping a single set.

The combination of dedicated coaching, strong training facilities, and the emergence of talented athletes like Jeschke and Richter positions SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg as a force to be reckoned with in the German badminton landscape. The club’s continued success is not only a source of pride for the local community but also a testament to the power of youth sports development.
