After 15 years, the Bristol-based post-hardcore band Svalbard is calling it quits. The band, formed in 2011, announced that 2026​ will be their final year. Svalbard plans​ a series⁤ of farewell shows​ to commemorate their time together.

The band, ⁣consisting of Serena Cherry, Liam Phelan, and Mark Lilley, released four albums: “One Day All‌ This will End” (2015), “It’s Hard To Have Hope” ‌(2018), “When I Die, Will I Get Better?” (2020) and “The Weight Of The Mask” (2023).

The band shared the ⁣news via instagram, expressing gratitude to their fans for‍ their support over the years. Svalbard ‌emphasized the unforgettable ‍moments shared wiht their audience and looked forward to celebrating their final year with them.

As part of their⁤ farewell, Svalbard will embark on a final UK tour in ⁤November, ​followed by ⁢shows​ in⁢ Europe and Japan. Several select farewell shows ‌are also planned​ for 2026. Tickets for the UK⁣ shows ​are available ⁣online.

I think we will always feel ⁣a‍ slight state of disbelief over what our⁤ noisy little band from Bristol managed ⁤to achieve.”

Cherry added that the band⁣ always strived to create music that defied easy categorization and ⁢expressed pride in staying true to their musical vision. She also thanked the metal community for embracing Svalbard’s unique sound and outspokenness.

“I ⁤would like to say a very ‍heartfelt thank ⁤you to everyone who⁢ has supported Svalbard, it’s been an incredible journey and we could not have ⁣done it without you,” Cherry said.

Along with the farewell ‌tour, Svalbard is scheduled to perform at Download Festival on June ‍13.
