Sweden Aims⁢ to​ Attract Foreign Talent with New Measures

Sweden is actively working ‌to become a more attractive destination‌ for international talent. Migration Minister Johan‍ Forssell, along with representatives from major Swedish companies, outlined nine key measures‍ designed ⁢to improve the country’s appeal‌ to skilled workers.

Forssell emphasized the need for concrete steps to attract and retain top international talent, stating that Sweden’s ⁣competitiveness hinges on its ability to draw in individuals⁣ who‍ want to work, invest, and build ​their futures there. the focus⁢ is shifting from ‍low-skilled labor‌ to high-skilled labor to boost innovation.

One key initiative is the fast-track ​system ‍for work permit‍ holders ⁤and researchers, implemented in ⁣2024.This program, spearheaded by former​ Migration Agency director Mikael Ribbenvik, has significantly ‍reduced processing times for complete applications, from over⁣ 100 days to an‍ average of just 18.
