The fourth-seeded Swiatek now advances to the semifinals of this grass court tournament, a key warm-up before Wimbledon.
Swiatek, who is seeking her first grass court title, acknowledged the challenges posed by the windy conditions and Alexandrova’s game. She committed 37 unforced errors during the match.
The Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini also secured a spot in the semifinals, marking her fourth of the season, with a straight-sets 7-5, 7-5 victory over Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Jessica Pegula, the top seed, battled through a three-set match against fellow American Emma Navarro, winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to reach the semifinals. Linda Noskova of the Czech republic defeated Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-3.
“I think today was all about adjusting to the conditions becuase it was super windy,” Swiatek said. “On one hand to be intense on the other hand being safe.”
