Swindon’s Link Centre Celebrates 40 Years of community Fitness and Fun
The Link Centre in Swindon is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a key community hub, offering fitness and leisure activities. As opening in 1985, the center, managed by Greenwich Leisure under the “Better” brand, has become a cornerstone of west swindon.
A special event is planned for April 26 to commemorate the milestone. The celebration will feature various attractions, including vendor stalls and reduced prices on activities like ice skating, swimming, and trampolining.

Clive Seabrook, the general manager, emphasized the center’s importance, calling it “the hub of west Swindon.”

The Link Centre is also home to the Swindon Wildcats, a National Ice Hockey League team. coach Aaron Nell praised the facility’s upkeep, noting that the ice rink has been well-maintained over the years. ”The view from the stands is as good as you can get,” Nell said.

Alfie druett, a gym member, highlighted the center’s role in his and his family’s life. “Its always been a big part of my life and my family’s life, and I come here five days a week,” said Druett.
The center temporarily closed in September 2023 due to flooding but reopened in January 2024 after renovations, including ceiling repairs, retiling, redecoration, and new lighting.
