Swiss Little League Tryouts 2026: Poland Qualifier – Register by March 15th!

Swiss Little League Team to Compete in 2026 Qualifier

Young baseball and softball players in Switzerland have an opportunity to represent their country on an international stage. Little League Switzerland is calling for players interested in competing in the Little League Qualifier for the 2026 Little League World Series, to be held in July 12-16, 2026 in Kutno, Poland. The program, which has been lauded by past participants, aims to provide a valuable experience for developing athletes.

Registration for interested players is open until March 15, 2026. Players must meet specific criteria to be eligible, including a birthdate between September 1, 2013 and August 31, 2016, current enrollment in a Swiss school, and mandatory participation in at least eight games within the SBSF U12 League before the season’s end. Attendance at the Little League Final in Therwil on May 16, 2026, is also required. Participation in at least two Little League Prospect (LP) events – one before and one after the summer holidays – is highly encouraged.

The path to the Little League World Series isn’t immediate. Should the Swiss team advance from the qualifier in Poland, they would then compete in the Little League Regional tournament, scheduled for July 19-26, 2026, also in Kutno. This multi-stage process underscores the competitive nature of the event and the dedication required to reach the highest levels of Little League play.

Little League Switzerland emphasizes that all players meeting the outlined criteria are welcome to register, regardless of perceived skill level. The organization is looking for enthusiastic participants who embody the spirit of the game. Interested players can register by emailing [email protected].

Following registration, players will be assigned to either an East or West team based on the Little League Map. Coaches from each region will then scout players during games in April to begin forming the teams. This scouting process ensures a fair and comprehensive evaluation of talent across the country.

It’s important to note that registration does not guarantee a spot on the final roster. The team representing Switzerland will be determined through a final tournament between Team East and Team West on May 16, 2026. This competitive selection process ensures that the most prepared and skilled players will have the opportunity to compete internationally.

This initiative builds on a broader partnership between Little League and the World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe (WBSC Europe), formalized in June 2023. The five-year agreement aims to foster the growth of baseball and softball throughout Europe, with Little League tournaments serving as key qualifiers for the Little League World Series. WBSC Europe also provides development funding to National Federations, supporting Little League programs and other initiatives across the continent. A recent funding call was launched in February 2026, offering financial support for baseball, softball, baseball5, and Little League programs.

The Europe-Africa Region, headquartered in Kutno, Poland, plays a crucial role in coordinating Little League operations across both continents. The region hosted several games in 2026, including matchups against teams from Delaware, Italy, Hawaii, Japan, Canada, and Australia, demonstrating the growing international presence of Little League baseball and softball. The upcoming umpire clinic in Kutno in March 2026 further highlights the region’s commitment to developing all aspects of the game.

Little League’s core mission centers on the belief that youth baseball and softball instill valuable life lessons, building stronger individuals and communities. With approximately 6,500 communities participating in over 80 countries, Little League provides a global platform for young athletes to learn, grow, and compete. The Swiss program aims to contribute to this global network, offering a unique opportunity for young players to experience the camaraderie and competition of international Little League play.
