The Swiss⁣ government aims to prevent ⁤EU and European Free Trade ‍Association (EFTA) nationals on temporary assignments⁣ from obtaining standard work permits. ⁣Additionally, individuals entering Switzerland under family reunification rules will be required⁤ to register with a career guidance service. The government⁤ said ⁣this will “promote ⁤professional integration” and better ⁢utilize⁤ their skills.

Major ⁢maintenance work by the national rail company SBB will shut down the ⁤Fribourg-Bern line, a crucial route connecting German and French-speaking regions, from June 27⁤ to Aug. 25. A⁣ replacement bus service will run every 10 minutes to mitigate the impact ⁤on long-distance ⁤travel.

Lawmakers are also considering a proposal to double the price ‍of the ⁣motorway vignette to 80 francs for foreign drivers. Center Party MP Martin Candinas submitted the motion. The increase would be offset by lower petrol prices, but could deter foreign drivers and reduce traffic.

The Swiss motoring organization TCS advises motorists to consult “traffic ⁤calendars” to avoid peak congestion times during the summer holidays, ‍particularly on⁣ weekends and⁣ routes leading to the Gotthard tunnel.
