Canberra, ACT – the historic Sydney and Melbourne Buildings in the heart of Canberra City are undergoing a much-needed facelift, breathing new life into these architectural gems.
Repainting has begun on the Melbourne Building, home to popular businesses like Amici Wine Bar and Deli, Bistro nguyen’s, and Smith’s Alternative.
“The façade repainting will lift these beautiful buildings and help create a standout feature for visitors to the city,” says Ravi Sharma, a Sydney Building property owner. “As a building owner, I certainly appreciate the ACT Government’s support to preserve the character of these iconic buildings. The fresh façade will enhance the appeal of the businesses operating within them and be a drawcard for patrons.”
The project recognizes the ancient and architectural significance of these heritage-listed buildings. The ACT Government has been actively engaging with building owners, businesses, and the community for the past five years to develop a Revitalisation Plan for the buildings.
