CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – West Seneca’s Sydney Sterlace, the 16-year-old singing sensation who captured hearts nationwide on “The Voice,” touched down at Buffalo Niagara International Airport Wednesday night, greeted by a wave of well-wishers.
Sterlace, who finished third in the NBC singing competition, arrived back in Western New York after a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles for the season finale.
“it was amazing, and it all felt so long in the moment,” Sterlace said, reflecting on her experience. “But then it went by so fast, and I can’t believe it’s already over.”
Despite the whirlwind, Sterlace expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from her hometown. “I could feel the love from buffalo while I was out in Los Angeles,” she shared.
During Monday’s finale, Sterlace delivered a powerful duet of Cat Stevens’ “Wild World” with her coach, Gwen stefani. Voting for “The Voice” opened at 8 p.m. Monday and closed at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
While Sterlace plans to return to school, she’ll get a brief reprieve thanks to a Lake Effect Snow Warning that prompted West Seneca, like many other school districts in the region, to cancel classes on Thursday.

Despite the whirlwind experience in Los Angeles, Sterlace emphasized her appreciation for the unwavering support from her hometown.“I could feel the love from Buffalo while I was out in Los Angeles,” she confided.
On Monday’s season finale, Sterlace captivated audiences with a moving duet of Cat Stevens’ “Wild World” alongside her coach, Gwen Stefani.
While Sterlace is eager to return to normalcy and resume her studies, a Lake Effect Snow warning impacting the West Seneca School District has granted her a welcome day off on Thursday.
