Sydney Sweeney embraced a significant body transformation for her role as boxing legend christy Martin in an upcoming biopic directed by David Michôd. The actress said she “loved” gaining more than 30 pounds for the part.
Sweeney told W magazine that she dedicated three and a half months to training. Her routine included morning and evening weight training, along with midday kickboxing sessions.This intense regimen lead to a complete change in her physique.
The actress noted the dramatic changes in her body. her clothing size increased, and she gained significant muscle mass. Sweeney, 27, said she felt incredibly strong as a result of the training.
“I came onboard to play Christy, and I had about three and a half months of training,” Sweeney said.”I started eating. I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour.”
The film will depict the life of Christy Martin, including her survival after a near-fatal attack in 2010 by her then-husband, James “Jim” Martin. Jim Martin died in 2024 while serving time for attempted murder.
