Saskatchewan Roots and the French Language
Walker is originally from Peace River, Alberta, but grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan, and now resides in Saskatoon. She noted that these cities are central to the province’s Fransaskois communities. I have no difficulty accessing the language as I work in French, I make music in french, and my group of friends is pretty French-speaking.
She believes living in larger centers makes it easier to access the language, even though the culture remains a minority.
Early Education
Walker attended a French-speaking school. In Peace River, we were 14 students. Then,I arrived in Regina in the 4th year,and this school had around 300 students. My mind was blown.
Relationship with the French Language
Walker shared her evolving relationship with the French language. When I was little,I didn’t learn English before starting school,so French was all I knew.In secondary school, it wasn’t cool to speak French. Everyone thought we were weird as we were Frenchies.
Later, at university, she realized the importance of the french language to her identity, taking courses that emphasized preserving language and culture.

Walker discussed working with Mario Lepage,also known as Ponteix. I have known mario for a very long time. We worked together for years. At first, I wanted to record the tunes just because I wanted. Then we were like ”maybe we should do five tunes instead of three.” We hear Mario’s touch very well.If it was not him, the music would only be guitar and voice. So Mario had a great influence on the result of My sweet Lord, that’s for sure.
Recording Locations
The EP was recorded in various locations. Everywhere. It started in the garage studio in Saint-Denis in Saskatchewan. Then, it was recorded in Saskatoon, in Mario’s apartment and in my apartment. Then we finished it in Montreal.
future Plans
Walker shared her plans for the future. On March 21, I go to Whitehorse, to Yukon, to make a show called shock wave. I’m going to sing in a festival in Regina in May. I plan to play in many festivals in Saskatchewan, as I like it! What I want for the year 2025 and 2026 is to go to Europe to make shows.
