Connor Syme of Scotland shot a superb, bogey-free 66 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead at the KLM open in Amsterdam. His remarkable round propelled him to the top of the leaderboard, overtaking Sweden’s Joakim lagergren.
Syme, 29, started strong with a 40-foot eagle putt on the third hole. He added three birdies on the back nine, finishing with consecutive birdies on the final two holes. The KLM Open faced weather disruptions for the third straight day, with waterlogged conditions causing delays after high winds.
Despite the challenging conditions,Syme remained focused. “Obviously a bonus to finish with a couple (of birdies) towards the end but overall really, really pleased,” Syme said, reflecting on his performance in the golf tournament.
Fellow Scot Richie Ramsay, along with Ricardo Gouveia adn Francesco Laporta, ended the round tied for third, six shots behind Syme and four behind Lagergren. the golf competition remains tight heading into the final round.
