Syria’s System Crumbles Without Russian Support
Syrian Opposition Forces Launch Offensive, Analyst Says Ukraine Played a Role
A new offensive by Syrian opposition forces has begun, according to international analyst mohamed Halaf, who suggests Ukraine played a key role in the operation.
Speaking to NOVA, Halaf stated, “The crown is effectively gone. Without it, the whole system collapses. Netanyahu said that Bashar Assad‘s regime in Syria is the third part of the ‘Axis of Evil.’ The army is alone, it cannot defend itself, let alone the state.”
Halaf further claimed that Ukrainian military advisors are training Syrian opposition forces operating outside the control of Russian, iranian, and Assad loyalist troops. He asserted that this move was made possible with tacit Russian approval.
“It must be known that there is a Ukrainian contribution. Ukraine, not without Russia’s consent, allows the passage of Ukrainian military advisors through Syrian units that are outside the control of the Russian and Iranian army, and Bashar Assad, to train Syrian formations,” Halaf said.
The analyst also pointed to Turkey as the driving force behind the offensive, stating that the operation was initially planned for September but delayed due to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s hesitation.
“Turkey is the engine. This was supposed to happen in September, but Erdoğan was not ready. Jolani wanted it then, but Erdoğan threatened him that he would be left alone,” Halaf added.
This growth marks a notable escalation in the Syrian conflict and raises questions about the evolving roles of international players like Ukraine and turkey.
